- PWA application for collecting information on unusual phenomena at sea.
As part of the project "Monitoring the Dynamics and Impact of the Invasive Comb Jelly Species Mnemiopsis leidyi in Fishing Areas of the Northern Adriatic," implemented by the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split, a mobile application named RebrashNET was developed.
The app enables users to report sightings, locations, and abundance of the comb jelly M. leidyi, along with several other gelatinous plankton species that may negatively affect ecosystems, fishing activities, or the health of fishermen.
Photos of these organisms, along with precise location data sent through the RebrashNET app, will facilitate faster and more accurate assessments of the extent of affected fishing areas in the long term. All collected data is stored in the database of the Institute of oceanography and fisheries in Split, with analysis results made available to the scientific community, the general public, and relevant institutions.
The aim of this project is to facilitate the development of a future national strategy aimed at combating the consequences of such invasions, in cooperation with scientists and fishermen."
